A Canadian citizen cannot lose their citizenship and be forced to leave Canada unless they got their status in Canada by misrepresenting information on an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (formerly Citizenship and Immigration Canada or CIC).

Permanent residents can be deported for a variety of reasons, no matter how long they have lived here.
