What if the Refugee Protection Division refuses a claim or the Minister appeals the decision?

If the Refugee Protection Division refuses a claim or the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration appeals the decision to accept a claim, the claimant should try to get legal help right away. In either of these situations, the appeal process is complicated. We give only basic information on these pages.

There is a 15-day deadline for filing a ‘notice of appeal’ with the Refugee Appeal Division.
