What happens at the interview with Canada Border Services Agency?
The officer will ask questions and use the claimant’s answers to fill out a number of forms. These include:
- Generic Application Form for Canada
- Additional Dependants Declaration (if the claimant has more than five dependants)
- Schedule A – Background/Declaration
Claimants have the right to have the interview and the forms completed in English or in French.
The claimant should be prepared to answer the officer’s questions accurately. They will also be asked to sign the forms. If information is missing, incorrect, or inconsistent, the Immigration and Refugee Board could refuse the claim.
